Laser Resurfacing Face Treatments Aim to Improve The Skin’s Overall Texture, Appearance, and Tone.

About Laser Resurfacing

Facial wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and certain types of scars can be improved by a variety of laser resurfacing techniques.

Ageing, sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle factors contribute to facial wrinkling, but fine lines and wrinkles may be improved by laser skin resurfacing.

Patients may have laser resurfacing at almost any age, and certain characteristics can make you a better candidate for one technique over another. Laser skin resurfacing treatments can be performed to varying depths.

A superficial treatment requires less healing time, but may require the procedure to be repeated in order to achieve the same results as a deeper treatment. Mr Mutimer AM will discuss technique options with you at your personal consultation.

Common Causes of Fine Lines, Wrinkles, and Pigmentation

There are many causes, and your own genetics, diet, and lifestyle also plays its role. These are some of the most common causes of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

Exposure to UV rays damages the skin’s elastin, reducing elasticity and resulting in dull, dry, and crepey skin that’s more prone to wrinkles as well as pigmentation and sunspots.
Repetitive facial movement such as frowning, smiling, laughing, and furrowing one’s brows are what we call dynamic wrinkles. When you are younger, dynamic wrinkles appear only when a face is made, and disappear when the face is relaxed.

Over time however, dynamic wrinkles can become static, where fine lines can form and remain on the face, even when relaxed, due to repetitive movement over time.

Ageing is a natural process and as such, fine lines and wrinkles are often a standard accompaniment of simply getting older.

As we age, the skin thins, while loss of elasticity and reduced collagen production makes the skin more delicate. Fine lines and deeper wrinkles will start to form.

Smoking has an adverse effect on various aspects of health, including speeding up the natural ageing process of your skin.

Smoking cigarettes narrows your blood vessels, which means less oxygen can flow to your skin cells to deliver nutrients. This can leave you with weathered skin and make you look older than you are.

Cosmetic Surgery is real surgery and requires a general anaesthetic, both carry risks. All surgery has a post operative recovery time. We will discuss this in detail at your consultation. Your recovery time may be impacted by a range of factors, including your type of work, personal responsibilities, support available, and your health history, as well as the surgery itself. All surgery carries risks, complications are not common but they can occur and these will be discussed at your consultations.
