Earlobe Reduction Surgery
About Earlobe Reduction Surgery
Unlike otoplasty, which is performed for both adults and children alike, earlobe reduction surgery is more common in adults who were born with oversized earlobes.
Earlobe reduction surgery involves your surgeon reducing the size of earlobes thus making them less prominent. This procedure changes the balance of your face and detracts unwanted attention on your earlobes.
The earlobe reduction procedure typically takes 1 hour. It is almost always performed under local anaesthetic and you can return to gentle activities the same day.
If you would like to discuss surgery to your earlobes, we invite you to contact Brighton Plastic Surgery today to discuss your options and to book a consultation with our surgeons.
Is Earlobe Reduction Surgery Right For Me?
Earlobe reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to correct the appearance of the earlobes. It will not improve or change your hearing.
Earlobe surgery may be suitable if:
- You are concerned about the size or protrusion of your earlobes
- Your earlobes draw unwanted attention
- The natural ageing process has increased the size of your earlobes
- Your earlobes have become long, stretched, or even split due to heavy earrings and piercings
Earlobe surgery may be performed on adults of any age.
Recovery following earlobe reduction surgery will vary between patients. However in many cases, you may return to work and daily activities within days. You may be required to wear a dressing for a week following surgery however, for many people, this can be hidden by your hair.
Heavy exercise should be avoided for 4-6 weeks following surgery. Please note that this is a guide only; your surgeon will prescribe a tailored recovery plan to meet your needs.

Prospective patients often wish to see photos of people who have previously had this surgery. We don’t share these images on the website as we respect our patients privacy, however they are available during a consultation.
