Dr. Lipi Shukla is a Melbourne trained Specialist Plastic Surgeon

Dr Shukla is a registered medical practitioner holding both general and specialist registration in plastic surgery. Her AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration number is MED0001674975.

A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Lipi completed her plastic surgery training rotating through all the major tertiary centres in Victoria, including The Alfred, St Vincent’s, Royal Melbourne and Royal Children’s hospitals. She has a strong interest in melanoma and skin cancer surgery, hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery as required for breast, head and neck cancer and trauma cases. Lipi values a compassionate and individualised approach endeavouring to deliver the best possible patient experience and outcomes.

Lipi holds public appointments as a Consultant Surgeon at The Alfred and St Vincent’s Hospital. Lipi operates at Holmesglen Private Hospital, Cabrini Hospitals, St. Vincent’s Private Hospitals and Epworth Freemasons Private Hospital.

In 2023, Lipi embarked on an exciting journey, traveling overseas to undertake international clinical observerships and further training with recognised experts in peripheral nerve surgery in the USA, UK and Europe. She is particularly passionate about assisting patients suffering with chronic headaches or migraines caused by nerve compression, notably occipital neuralgia – a frequently underdiagnosed condition that profoundly impacts one’s quality of life.

More about Lipi

Lipi graduated from Bond University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree, during which time she was the recipient of numerous academic prizes. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy, was awarded the prize for first place in the plastic surgery stream and tutored subsequent cohorts.

Prior to commencing surgical training, Lipi completed her PhD at the O’Brien Institute. Her research focused on unravelling the intricate cellular and molecular mechanisms behind radiotherapy-induced soft tissue injury. In this pursuit, she further investigated the role of fat grafting in tissue regeneration, offering hope for improved patient outcomes. Her commitment to scientific innovation is reflected in her ongoing involvement in clinical and laboratory based projects, presentations and publications.

Lipi stays active enjoying all kinds of dance, martial arts, tennis and beach days with her husband and dog.
